Urgent Appeal: Help Provide Baby Formula to Starving Children in Gaza

My name is Charlotte Simons, and I’m a Dutch citizen working closely with Dr Rabnawaz Afzal, a Pakistani doctor currently operating on the ground in Gaza. Together with a team of local Palestinian volunteers, Dr Rabnawaz is providing life-saving aid to hundreds of people every day, including food, clean water (filtered from the sea), medical care, financial assistance, and baby formula.

This fundraiser focuses specifically on the purchase and distribution of formula for infants suffering from severe malnutrition due to the ongoing siege and humanitarian crisis in Gaza.

The donations collected here go directly to Dr Rabnawaz’s small organisation via PayPal. Every cent is immediately used to purchase and distribute baby formula to the most vulnerable, all on a daily, need-based basis.

Mijn naam is Charlotte Simons en ik ben een Nederlands burger. Namens de kleinschalige organisatie van Dr. Rabnawaz Afzal zamel ik geld in voor de aanschaf van flesvoeding voor ernstig ondervoede baby’s en jonge kinderen in Gaza.

Dr. Rabnawaz is een Pakistaanse arts die momenteel in Gaza werkzaam is en daar, samen met een toegewijd team van Palestijnse vrijwilligers, dagelijks honderden mensen helpt. Hij voorziet hen van schoon drinkwater (gefilterd uit zeewater), voedsel, medische zorg, babyvoeding en – waar nodig – financiële ondersteuning. Deze specifieke inzamelingsactie richt zich uitsluitend op het inkopen en verspreiden van babyvoeding.

Wij zijn een kleine, directe operatie die volledig draait op dagelijkse donaties. Alles wat binnenkomt, gaat meteen naar acute behoeften op de grond. Daarom is een constante stroom van giften essentieel om dit levensreddende werk voort te zetten.

Zelf ben ik niet fysiek in Gaza aanwezig, maar ik werk nauw samen met Dr. Rabnawaz en Siul Cortes om de nodige middelen van buitenaf beschikbaar te maken.

To date, almost all donations have been transferred to Dr Rab and his team from Team CSK (Choti Si Koshish) Gaza, amounting to €4,022.50. Please see the attached screenshots and receipts confirming this total. In addition to this fundraiser, we have also received several contributions through Tikkie, the Dutch online payment platform.

Thanks to the funds collected so far, formula can be distributed to approximately 90 to 100 children. This is a meaningful start, but there is still a long way to go – particularly in the north of Gaza, where conditions are even more severe than in the south. We ask you to continue standing with these babies and lending them your voice.

I must begin with an unbearably sad update that I had not yet shared here: last Monday morning at 4:00 a.m. local time in Gaza, one of “our” babies, little Taqi, who was only twee weeks old, was murdered by the Israeli army. She had been receiving formula thanks to your donations. Taqi and her parents were killed when their tent was bombed in northern Gaza, while her two brothers miraculously survived. We will do everything we can to support their uncle and aunt, who are now taking care of them. Taqi’s short life is a heartbreaking reminder of why we must continue to call for a free Palestine, where children can grow up in safety instead of being taken by violence and siege.

Thanks to your generous contributions, €3522.50 has already been transferred to Gaza, and the remainder will be sent in the coming days. Formula currently costs around 40–45 dollars per tin, and for specialised nutrition for severely malnourished children, the prices rise even higher. The need remains immense. I truly hope we can continue raising funds together, so that even more children can be fed and given a chance to live.

Lieve iedereen,

Allereerst een intens verdrietige update die ik hier nog niet eerder gedeeld had: afgelopen maandagochtend om 4:00 uur lokale tijd is in Gaza een van “onze” baby’tjes, Taqi, twee weken oud, vermoord door het Israëlische leger. Zij ontving babyvoeding via jullie donaties. Samen met haar ouders kwam ze om het leven toen hun tent werd gebombardeerd in het noorden van Gaza. Haar twee broertjes hebben wonder boven wonder overleefd. Wij zullen er alles aan doen om hun oom en tante, die nu voor hen zorgen, te ondersteunen. Taqi’s korte leventje herinnert ons eraan waarom we blijven strijden voor een vrij Palestina, waar kinderen niet langer hun leven verliezen door geweld en blokkades.

Dankzij jullie gulle bijdragen is er inmiddels €3522,50 naar Gaza gestuurd, en in de komende dagen wordt ook de rest overgemaakt. Babyvoeding kost momenteel rond de 40–45 dollar per busje; vooral voor speciale voeding voor kinderen die ernstig ondervoed zijn lopen de prijzen nog verder op. De nood blijft groot. Ik hoop dat we samen kunnen blijven inzamelen zodat we nog meer kinderen kunnen voeden en een kans op leven kunnen geven.
